ApusNeo HAPS Completes First Flight at 14,500 Meters in European Airspace

UAVOS Inc., the founding technology partner of Mira Aerospace, announced the successful completion of the first flight of the ApusNeo HAPS stratospheric aircraft in European airspace, reaching an altitude of 14,500 meters (approximately 47,600 feet). The flight was conducted at Canarias Stratoport for HAPS & UAS, located in Fuerteventura Technology Park, Spain. It marked an important milestone in the development and operation of high-altitude platforms in Europe.

The results of the test flights demonstrated the readiness of the ApusNeo HAPS to perform missions focused on wildfire monitoring and environmental protection. The aircraft completed a continuous 28-hour flight, providing persistent observation over a wide area.

During the mission, the ApusNeo HAPS carried an Earth observation payload consisting of a high-resolution camera and optical and infrared sensors. The system transmitted imagery and sensor data in real time, enabling ship tracking and environmental monitoring.

The tests also demonstrated the successful coordination of ApusNeo HAPS operations with ENAIRE, Spain’s air navigation manager. This coordination confirmed the platform’s ability to operate safely within European airspace and established a foundation for future wildfire response and protection missions in Spain and across Europe.

“The UAVOS team demonstrated its ability to prepare for and conduct complex high-altitude test flights while meeting aviation safety requirements and coordinating effectively with regulatory authorities,” said Aliaksei Stratsilatau, Founder and CEO of UAVOS. "Successful coordination with aviation authorities is enabling the team to build valuable experience in integrating HAPS platforms into European airspace. This experience may provide a foundation for future tests and potential operational scenarios."
